If I told you dads could be empowered during their significant other’s birth would you believe me? That dads could be into it and feel empowered? I believe this is possible, and so does Jo Valley. He is the founder of EMPOWERED PAPA, a website dedicated to just that!

Tonight was the first time I’ve had a chance to speak with him and his gorgeous and dynamic wife Andrea. They are one of those couples that don’t seem real, think Brangelina, but more approachable and smarter. They were so amazing and on the same page. They GET dads and it’s obvious. They have so much knowledge to bring to dads and doulas. I was excited to hear about the launch of their new website. It’s gorgeous and so easy to navigate.

In my opinion it’s time for dads to see their full potential and to finally get that they are integral, important and needed. Joe and Andrea think so too and are doing so much to bring this realization to fruition. I am so grateful to my friend Kaitlin Parmenter founder of Bring Birth Home. A website dedicated to all things home birth! When she told me about Joe I ran to find out more and about cried when I saw all the great work he’s doing. Here’s what touched me when I went to his site:

Being empowered can mean so many things.  What I do is to explore the myriad ways that men can effectively and positively be part of their children’s lives.  From pregnancy to the birthing process and parenthood to finding a new identity as a father, being empowered during those processes means everything from having access to information (you’ve found a good place to start with this site) to having someone to coach you through all of it (you’ve also found me).  I’m here to help with all the stages and changes in becoming the best father and partner you can be. Ok, so I’m not helping with the conception part, but everything after that is fair game!
